Twinkle, Twinkle

When I was young, in front of my house was a star. Year before I was born, my grandfather had diligently marked it out as a flower bed in the big front garden. By the time I arrived on the scene, my grandfather was gone, the star had sunk and was filled with grass.

For me is was my favourite place in the world. I sat in one of the stars spokes and gazed up into the sky. It didn't matter if it was day or night. It was a place to dream of other planets, great adventures and men landing on the moon.

Today the star is gone from the garden replaced by a drive for two cars. But its memory still lives on and when I close my eyes I am there again, traveling through the stars.

To my long gone grandfather, thank you for the dreams.

Holiday Tan

Just back from two weeks in the sun. The sun was hot, the sea salty and the Spanish won the world cup. Fireworks, singing and deafing noise. They know where the car horn is.

I am nice and tanned. But exhausted after my first day back in work. I had to put my kickboxing off until Thursday.

Champagne and Strawberries

One of my favourite places is the Ariege. To me this is one of Frances best kept secrets. The air is clear, the sky is blue and the mountains are high. But best of all are the tranquil villages holding farmers markets where the produces are fresh, tasty and local. Food! Food! Food! What more can you ask of France?

During my last visit I was prompted to eat a strawberry with my champagne. Never one to pass up the bubbly, I indulged. I took a sip of the wet stuff and bit into the strawberry. My senses stood to attention. My taste buds threw a carnival and I’m sure I made some interesting noises. The strawberry was succulent, luscious, tart, moist and ripe. Flavour flooded into my mouth. Eating strawberries became an erotic experience.

So if you want a succulent experience grow your own strawberries or buy organic. They really do have taste. Then indulge in champers and strawberries with some fellow wild women. It is a great way of adding flavour to your life.

I'm a Brass Band

I love musicals always have and always will. But somewhere along the way I stopped singing and dancing because I was afraid someone was watching and judging. I became sad and started judging myself. But no more. For the past couple of years I have taken up singing for fun. At 43 I am learning the piano. I love both. I am watching all kinds of musicals. My current favourite song from the musicals is the song Somebody loves me - I'm a brass band from Sweet Charity. I love Shirely McLane's energy. Her Quirkyness and her sense of timing.

My wish is: To Sing as if no one is listening, Dance as if no one is watching and live as if there is only now.
